How Big is the Baby at 22 Weeks Pregnant?
Compared to your baby's first weeks of life, your baby at pregnancy week 22 is now a giant! At more than 7 1/2 inches long your baby weighs over 12 ounces during pregnancy 22 weeks!
Your Baby's Growth and Development
Your baby continues to grow each and every day of your pregnancy week by week. His organs are developing and maturing during pregnancy week 22, as are his internal systems, including the digestive and reproductive system.

By this point in time your baby's eyelids have formed and eyebrows have already developed. Your baby should have fingernails at this point in time. By the time your baby is born, you may find he is already ready for his first nail trimming!

By this time your baby's organs are specializing in their functions. By now your baby is starting to show some unique features. If you were to peak inside the womb you might notice your baby's first signs of teeth and full lips.

So, 18 more weeks to go until my due date and I can't wait to meet the little princess. I feel her moving around so much now and I can even see my belly wiggle around :) the most amazing thing ever...

21 weeks

Your baby's blood circulation is completely functional. The umbilical cord system continues to grow and thicken as blood travels with considerable force through the body to nurture the baby. The placenta is now almost equal in size to the baby.

Your baby will be getting much larger during the second half of your pregnancy. Your baby's crown-to-rump length at this time is 7.2 inches and she weighs approximately 10.5 ounces. Your growing baby is about the size of a large banana. You should be able to feel your uterus about a half of an inch above your navel. Your weight gain so far will be around 10 to 15 pounds.

As your baby begins to lay down more fat, your weight will also increase. During the next 10 weeks, you will gain about half of the total gain for your entire pregnancy. Strangers can now tell that you are pregnant! You might notice an increase in appetite because you need 500 more calories a day to support your charged up metabolism. It is best to avoid processed foods or foods high in fat, calories or sugar. Some women also get strong cravings for foods. If you notice a craving for something unhealthy, you should contact your doctor. Craving for unusual things is known as pica. Some women crave cigarette ashes, charcoal, beer and other non-food items during this time.

Your baby's different organs and systems are maturing. The fetal digestive system is functioning in a simple way and your baby can swallow amniotic fluid. After your baby swallows the amniotic fluid, she is able to absorb water and sugars from the fluid and then the waste is passed as far as the large bowel. Your baby swallows the amniotic fluid in order to prepare itself for life outside of the womb. Some babies consume as much as 17 ounces of amniotic fluid in a 24-hour period. Your baby already has a high number of red blood cells and the white blood cells are beginning to be produced. Taste buds are being formed on your baby's tongue this week also.

Shopping Spree

I got home last night after yet another horrible day at work and got my mail... Baby Depot sent a little ad... they had MY bedding on sale for only $150 instead of $190! I could not resist, honestly, it won't get any cheaper!!! Sooooo, I went out last night to the store and bought our baby girls bedding *YAY* It's sooooo pretty, I love it. Kevin doesn't know yet but I can tell him when he calls today ;-)
Now I just need to buy some other detergent and wash everything and then I can make her bed. I know I might be crazy to start already but why wait another month or two and then pay 40 dollars more?!?
We also agreed on a stroller, not sure if I will get it already or wait till kevin is back. I will probably wait, it's out of stock right now anyways...

20 weeks

Your baby weighs about 10 1/2 ounces now. He's also around 6 1/2 inches long from head to bottom and about 10 inches from head to heel — the length of a banana. (For the first 20 weeks, when a baby's legs are curled up against his torso and hard to measure, measurements are taken from the top of his head to his bottom — the "crown to rump" measurement. After 20 weeks, he's measured from head to toe.)

He's swallowing more these days, which is good practice for his digestive system. He's also producing meconium, a black, sticky by-product of digestion. This gooey substance will accumulate in his bowels, and you'll see it in his first soiled diaper (some babies pass meconium in the womb or during delivery).

Half way there!!!

I am 20 weeks pregnant today which means that we are half way there! I am so happy. only 20 more weeks (or probably less) until we get to meet our little baby girl.
Kevin will be back in "only" 80 more days. I can't wait for him to be back...
Franzi is here right now to visit and is giving me some company ;-) it's sooo nice to see her and it feels as if she has never been gone.
My baby shower is planned for April 4, thank you Donna and Lauren, and I am very excited. I am sure we will have a lot of fun that day ;-)
I have bought quite a bit of baby clothes already and Franzi brought a ton of mine and my brothers baby clothes from germany. It is soooo cute, most of the stuff is a little too 80'ies but I', sure all the white shirts, onsies, socks,... will come in very handy!

This morning, I read that my little princess is 10.5 inches long now (about 27cm). That is so crazy, I really had no idea she was so big already... Head to toe ;-) no wonder I start feeling her move around a lot more. it is the most amazing feeling to have her move around and feel it :-) it makes me so happy and gives me reassurance that she is still in there. I know it sounds pathetic but you still hear about so many women losing their babies this far along in theit pregnancy.
