I am still sooooo excited. It's a girl. 100% girl ;-)
Lauren and Donna are my Ultrasound buddies from now on, they came with me and we were all positively surprised to see that it was a girl. Who would have thought?!? I know some of you were sure it was a girl but I was almost certain that it was a boy groing in my belly ;-)
The US was amazing, it is great to see her squirming around for 30 minutes, moving her little arms,... she weighs 8oz right now (220 grams) soooo tiny. but soooo cute.
Now I really really want to get one of these 3d ultrasound things done...
You all read about my plan on how to tell kevin...well...it didn't work out the way I planned because I was way to excioited and he could hear that in my voice. I tried telling him that the baby had its legs crossed but he didn't believe me ;-)
he is super excited as well and we looked at bedding and strollers last night. AND we now need to come up with a name. I'm not so sure about how successful we will be in the near future but I will let you know.

18 weeks

How Big is the Baby at 18 Weeks Pregnant?
By 18 weeks pregnant your baby is now anywhere from 5 to approximately 6 inches long at 18 weeks and weighs a little over 5 ounces! In case you are wondering that is about the size of a small can of soup!
Your Baby's Growth and Development
By pregnancy week 18 your baby's heart is developed enough to show some signs of defects. Ultrasound may be used to help detect any structural abnormalities that might exist. Most babies will be born without any congenital abnormalities. If an early ultrasound does detect something abnormal, you can plan ahead for any interventions or surgeries that may be necessary to support your newborn baby after birth.

At pregnancy week 18 your baby is now starting to produce a protective covering along the nerves, called Myelin. This substance will be produced through the ninth month. By now your baby's genitals should be distinguishable, though you may not yet have the opportunity to view them at your health care practitioner's office.

5 MORE DAYS

I am beyond excited about the appointment on thursday and am trying to think of a good idea to tell kevin the sex of the baby. Donna is coming with me to the appointment and will record some of it on video so i can send it to kevin. I don't just want to tell him on the phone like "hey, it's a boy/girl!" I need some gooooood ideas here... Maybe I will just tell him that we could not tell and buy some clothes in blue or pink and get him to come on webcam in the evening and then show it to him?!? i don't know... HELP ;-)

I'm so glad the weekend is finally here, this week was very stressful and I had another fainting episode at the post office... need to talk to my doctor.
Work is driving me insane and I can't wait till July and I can QUIT :-)

We got new windows in our apartment yesterday and they look sooo nice. I am very happy, the old ones were dirty and leaking,... Downside was the dirty apartment I came home to from work but oh well, it gave me a reason the get my behind off the couch and actually clean ;-)

Baby's R Us

I LOVE BABY'S R US but it is also very overwhelming. They have soooooooo much stuff there. Lauren and I went and started the baby registry there. It has a lot of things on it that I might take off but Kevin will be able to look at everything I like and we can eliminate things that we don't like and add other things. Also, right now I have boy and girl things on it which will change next week! YES, ONLY 9 MORE DAYS and we will (hopefully) know the sex of our baby.

Speaking of packing on the pounds, that what it's all about for baby this week. He's adding fat stores that will keep him warm and cozy after he's born. Your baby's weight will increase approximately six times over the next four weeks. Good to know you're not the only one tipping the scale. Also this week:

Your baby is hard at work honing his sucking and swallowing reflexes—all the better for eating that 2 AM (and 5 AM, and 8 AM ...) meal in a few months! The finger- and toenails are beginning to grow from their nail beds, which would explain why he'll need them trimmed almost as soon as he's born!

Your baby weighs nearly 5 ounces and is a little over 5 inches long—about the size of a baked potato (load on the butter and sour cream, please).

Boy or Girl???

I've been asking myself this question a lot here lately and I will make my appointment for the big ultrasound tomorrow. I am thinking it will be end of this month when we find out.
One of our clients (an older spanish laady) came to the office today and we started talking... I told her that I was expecting, she looked at my belly and said "It's a girl!" I was surprised but maybe she is right. I've been thinking for about a week now that it might actually be a girl cookin in my belly ;-)
Either way we will be very happy and hope that it is a healthy baby.

I had the Quad Screening test done yesterday. They took some of my blood and are testing it for genetic disorders like down syndrome, trisomy 18, spinal bifida,... My doctor will call me in 10-14 days to give me the results. I am hoping everhting will be ok with our little one!!!

Tonight is American Idol and that's what I will do now, turn on the TV and watch all the crazy kids trying to sing ;-)

I AM EXPLODING

Okay, seriously... I am exploding all over the place... well maybe not all over the place but almost ;-)
my belly is getting bigger every day and I also need to buy a new bra today (which is not the worst thing in the world *lol*)
I got up this morning and looked at my belly in the mirror...strange things are happening...my belly button looks sooooo funny. I was never ever able to look all the way down into my bellybotton and now?!? it's soooo frickin big and I can see everything.
You guys probably think I'm crazy but it's true. I would even post a picture of it but that would be freaky *LMAO*
I spent most of my morning on this pregnancy website that I am pretty much addicted to. It's awesome and there are different community boards where all these mommys post stuff and you can talk about everything and anything. I spend a lot of time on the July 2009 board because all these moms on there are due around the same time as I am and it is really nice to get to know them and see how different each and every pregnancy is going... I don't post a lot on there but I like reading it and gathering information.
It's saturday and I am going to a birthday party tonight, problem is that I don't have a present yet. Sooo, I am off to the mall and hopefully find what I am looking for.

How your baby's growing:
Get ready for a growth spurt. In the next few weeks, your baby will double his weight and add inches to his length. Right now, he's about the size of an avocado: 4 1/2 inches long (head to rump) and 3 1/2 ounces. His legs are much more developed, his head is more erect than it has been, and his eyes have moved closer to the front of his head. His ears are close to their final position, too. The patterning of his scalp has begun, though his locks aren't recognizable yet. He's even started growing toenails. And there's a lot happening inside as well. For example, his heart is now pumping about 25 quarts of blood each day, and this amount will continue to increase as your baby continues to develop.

Your growing baby now measures about 4 inches long, crown to rump, and weighs in at about 2 1/2 ounces (about the size of an apple). She's busy moving amniotic fluid through her nose and upper respiratory tract, which helps the primitive air sacs in her lungs begin to develop. Her legs are growing longer than her arms now, and she can move all of her joints and limbs. Although her eyelids are still fused shut, she can sense light. If you shine a flashlight at your tummy, for instance, she's likely to move away from the beam. There's not much for your baby to taste at this point, but she is forming taste buds. Finally, if you have an ultrasound this week, you may be able to find out whether your baby's a boy or a girl! (Don't be too disappointed if it remains a mystery, though. Nailing down your baby's sex depends on the clarity of the picture and on your baby's position. He or she may be modestly curled up or turned in such a way as to "hide the goods.")

I drove up to Poquoson to Lauren's house yesterday to pick up the furniture for little peanut and I am so excited to have it here and I got a really good deal on it. Can't wait to buy a mattress and bedding ;-)

right now I am lying on my couch fighting a horrible headache that has been with me all day and I am about ready to cut my head off...

I'll most likely watching a little bit of the superbowl and then go to bed and get some rest before it's monday again :-/
